SHOCKWAVE ALLSTARS welcomes you to 2017-2018 Allstar season! We are excited about the growth that continues to take place in our organization and look forward to a challenging and highly competitive season. It is our goal to help every athlete reach her/his highest potential in a positive and supportive atmosphere.
Allstar cheerleading is a competitive sport which requires commitment and dedication from both athletes and parents. EVERY spot on our teams is important, and there is a team for every athlete at Shockwave Allstars.
Athletes will be assigned to teams based upon age, skill level, attitude, determination, commitment, and the needs of each individual team. Teams will be formed so that each team has the best possible chance of being highly competitive this competition season. To reach this goal, each team will ideally be comprised of a combination of athletes intended to best utilize each individual athlete’s strengths and maximize the overall success of the team. We encourage you to read the 2017-2018 Cheer Team Placement Guidelines which can be found on our website.

SHOCKWAVE ALLSTARS POLICIES AND EXPECTATIONS
It is our goal that every athlete and parent at Shockwave Allstars feels welcome and comfortable at all times when participating in any gym or program activities. We are more than just a sport – we are a family. In light of this goal, we require adherence to the following policies and expectations.
No profanity, bullying or abusive language or behavior will be tolerated by ANYONE in the gym at any time.
Athletes are not allowed to perform any skill, or use any equipment unless a coach is present.
There is NO gum, food, beverages, or jewelry allowed on the gym floor at any time for any reason.
Observation at the gym is welcome; however, all spectators must remain in the designated viewing area. Only the athletes are allowed on any equipment and the spring floor. Siblings are not permitted to use any gym equipment.
Please do not withhold your child from practice, competitions, or other Shockwave Allstars events as a form of punishment. You are not only punishing your child, but every other team member, coach, and parent on that squad.
Parents, relatives, friends and athletes are not authorized to speak with competition officials or judges for any reason. Your coach can relay any message he/she feels is necessary. Also, there will be NO arguing or questioning of the coaching staff’s decisions. If you have a concern or question please address it with your coach directly and at an appropriate time. Everyone will be required to show GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP at all times.
Your initial competition fee must be received in order to secure your spot on a team. Payments must be received pursuant to the 2017-2018 payment schedule. Payments are non-refundable.
No credit or make ups will be given for missed or unattended practices.
RESPECT for Coaches, Volunteers, Parents, Athletes and the Facility is ALWAYS required.
Have Fun! You will be treated with respect if you treat others with respect.
Tardiness and Absences:
On-time attendance is very important to the overall success of the team – please attend all practices and arrive on time. Practices may be added or cancelled at the coaches’ discretion, and tuition does not depend upon the number or length of practices in a given month.
Athletes are expected to attend all practices, and not arrive late or leave early unless that absence has been pre-approved by a coach or as the result of an emergency (in the emergency room, death in the family, etc.). Athletes who are sick but not contagious are still expected to attend practices, although physical activity will be limited.
Missing a practice the week prior to any competition or two weeks prior to any National competition may result in the athlete’s spot being filled for the next competition. However, we will give you plenty of notice of competition dates, and skipping a competition may result in immediate removal from the team.
If you are late or absent without a valid or pre-approved excuse 4 or more times during the season, it will likely effect your positions in the routine and may result in your removal from the team. Your absence significantly effects the ability of your team to fully practice its routine. Please be a team member that your teammates can count on. Tardiness is defined as 5 minutes late to any practice or event. All practices the week before a competition are absolutely mandatory and only previously excused absences or serious illness will be acceptable reasons for non-attendance.
Shockwave Allstars has a very flexible summer schedule so please make every effort to attend summer practices when you are in town.
Competitive Cheerleading is a sport that requires a great deal of commitment. Throughout the summer, teams will practice one day a week. If your are in town, please come to practice. Daytime summer camps are available throughout the summer and are a great way to perfect existing skills or work on achieving the next skill level.
Starting in August, all teams will practice two days per week. The competition season is typically from November or December through the middle of April.
For the 2017-2018 season, athletes will be provided with Shockwave practice wear. The cost of practice clothes is included in your tuition. Additional practice clothes may be purchased as desired.
Please treat the gym with respect and follow the gym’s policies and guidelines. Only coaches and athletes are allowed in the main practice area. All other observers must remain in the viewing lounge. Athletes are not to enter the floor area or use tumble equipment unless authorized and supervised by a coach. Siblings are not to enter floor area or use equipment at any time and must be supervised by a parent. Shockwave reserves the right to restrict anyone or everyone from viewing practices at any time if it is deemed to be a distraction or disruption to the athletes.
Shockwave Allstars prides itself on having established a reputation for being friendly, polite and sportsmanlike. We require all athletes and parents to conduct themselves in a positive and professional manner when attending all competitions and events. Please respect everyone – other teams, athletes, coaches, competition staff - at all times. This includes awards – please clap for other teams during awards regardless of your placement.
Any athlete or parent that is disrespectful in any way during the competition or award ceremony could be asked to sit out for the following competition. Your actions on and off the mat and in and out of practices or events will affect how others view our organization. Repeated incidences of unsportsmanlike conduct will result in the right of Shockwave Allstars to terminate an athlete’s position on the team or to ask you to not attend future competitions and events.
NO JEWELRY is allowed at practices and competitions. This could result in your squad being disqualified. Please leave your valuables at home. We will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
THE SHOCKWAVE ALLSTARS NAME AND LOGO ARE THE SOLE PROPERTY OF SHOCKWAVE ALLSTARS AND IT'S OWNERS. NO ITEMS DEPICTING THE SHOCKWAVE ALLSTARS NAME OR LOGO MAY BE DESIGNED, PRODUCED OR SOLD BY ANYONE OTHER THAN SHOCKWAVE ALLSTARS. THE ORGANIZATION NAME AND LOGO ARE SOLELY OWNED BY SHOCKWAVE ALLSTARS.
Shockwave Allstars will not be responsible for nor will we monitor valuables brought into the facility. Please do not bring items of value into the gym (i.e., jewelry, cell phones). Shockwave Allstars will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.
In addition to time commitment and hard work, there is a financial obligation to being a part of an allstar cheerleading program. Please read and carefully review all of the following policies and procedures for the 2017-2018 competitive season. A Participation Contract must be submitted when an athlete joins a team.
Initial Competition Fee – The competition fees are due each year and are NON-REFUNDABLE fees due at the start of the season. Even if an athlete quits and does not compete during the 2017-2018, all fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. The initial competition fee must be paid when accepting a roster spot on a team and before an athlete can begin practicing with his or her team. This fee is not pro-rated for athletes joining later in the season and will not be refunded if an athlete chooses to leave, or is asked to leave, the program. Additional competition fees will be due July 1 and August 1.
USASF Membership Fee – Every competitive cheerleader is required to be a member of the USASF (United States All Star Federation). An annual membership fee of $30 is required to be paid to the USASF each year in order to maintain your membership. Your USASF fee is due at the time you join and is non-refundable.
Monthly Tuition – Tuition is determined by the team to which an athlete is assigned. Tuition is due for an 8 month period beginning in September and ending in April. For specific tuition rates, please see the TEAM FEES tab of our website.
• All tuition payments are due on the 1st of the month. Tuition received after the 5th of the month will be subject to a $10 late fee.
• Monthly Tuition payments represent the costs of the entire year. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED FOR MONTHLY TUITION PAYMENTS. Payments do not depend on the number or length of practices in a month.
• For your convenience, Shockwave Allstars offers automatic debit for tuition and program payments.
Auto-pay from a credit card is strongly encouraged for every team athlete for Monthly Tuition Payments. We will NEVER charge you more than the stated contract amount previously authorized. A Participation Contract must be completed and submitted before an athlete may practice with his or her team. Automatic monthly debit is much easier for us and for you. It avoids your need to write checks and our need to continuously remind you about payments being due. Shockwave Allstars guarantees that only the authorized amount will be withdrawn on the 1st of each month (unless an alternative payment schedule is agreed upon).
Shockwave Allstars will accept the following payment methods:
Credit Card on File (preferred method) – Only Carrie van Bergen-Leone and Jesse Leone are authorized to accept and process this form of payment. No other staff members will have access to your credit card information. Ever.
Checks – Please make payable to Shockwave Allstars. Please include the athlete’s name and what the payment is for in the memo section of the check.
Cash – Must be in a sealed envelope labeled with the athlete’s name and what the payment is for written on the front.
Money Orders/Cashiers Check – Made payable to Shockwave Allstars. Please include the athlete’s name and what the payment is for in the memo section of the check.
You may send your payments to Shockwave Allstars, 20 Southlawn Court, Rockville, MD 20850.
Payments are due on the 1st of each month (unless otherwise agreed upon in advance).
• Any payments resulting in a NSF (non-sufficient funds), returned check, etc. will be charged a $25 service charge.
• An athlete’s account must be current and in good standing in order to participate in practices/competitions/special events and before receiving any uniform or apparel items.
• For the 2017-2018 season - IN THE EVENT THAT ANY MONTHLY PAYMENT IS MORE THAN 30 DAYS LATE, THAT ATHLETE WILL BE SAT OUT OF PRACTICE AND AN ALTERNATE WILL FILL THAT ATHLETE'S SPOT ON THE TEAM UNTIL THE ATHLETE'S ACCOUNT IS BROUGHT CURRENT. We never want to be forced to do this, so please make your payments on time.
Shockwave Allstars will maintain the utmost care in maintaining confidentiality. All matters pertaining to your athlete, your financial arrangements, and any other information of a personal nature will be kept strictly confidential. Please share with us any concerns you might have so that we can act in the best interest of your athlete at all times. Please know that we will NEVER discuss your athlete with anyone else, nor will we discuss another athlete with you.
